Today i ate japanese food for both lunch and dinner.
lunch i had at Cookai, which is my usual haunt. had plenty of sashimi, i notice they serve maguro(tuna) for sashimi this time. thats good as I like to eat maguro.
for my dinner i went to the locally famous Sala Sala which everyone would mention as selling very expensive jap meals.
Overall I find that the quality is good; its about the same standard as Kurashiki. both are almost equally expensive, maybe sala sala a little more. However, i would prefer Kurashiki as the atmosphere is more authentic. I actually feel like I am back in Japan whenever I step into Kurashiki.
sala sala's design tends towards the comtemporary, and I feel like I am in a modern bar rather than a traditional Japanese restaurant. For some reason, I find that atmosphere is important as it has a physcological impact on me. I feel much relaxed in Kurashiki and could enjoy my meal better.
tommorrow the Singapore club is having a steak night at the casino as usual. However I can feel some kind of distancing between the club and me. i might be over sensitive, but I can feel things aren't going right. I am very sensitive to people's language and expressions and often without any intention I am able to anticipate another's person's thoughts or actions with some degree of accuracy.
I think i will still go, since I still treat them as my friends and I feel that Singaporeans should bond together when we are in foreign land. meeting them once a week doesn't hurt, i suppose. I would still lend a helping hand to my fellow countrymen even if there are minor differences, though I would not bother to help crooked people from the PAP or crooks such as the NKF CEO.
These PAP people are no different from NKF's Durai. if Durai's pay is mere " peanuts" as mentioned by mrs goh chok tong, then surely she must mean that the real crooks are her husband and his PAP colleagues who earn so much more than merely 600k a year. the common taxpayer is suffering like hell in Singapore so that PAP can enjoy luxury while heavily discriminating against locals in favour of foreigners for jobs.
once when i criticized Lee Kuan Yew over dinner here, my fellow Singaporean friend told me to stop as she felt she is a patriotic person and did not want to hear. If there is anyone more patriotic it is me as I have sacrificed 4 years of my prime to defend the nation. yet it was in these 4 years that i became disillusioned with the Government and realized the truth about what is happening to Singapore.
it is precisely because i love my nation and people that i want to question the policies which the government is carrying out. our people are undergoing alot of hardship under a harsh government which does not hestistate to cut the salary of lowly paid workers while the ministers' huge salaries keep increasing. locals who are more than qualified are denied jobs in favour of foreigners. total lack of transparency in how funds are handled, especially with temasek holdings and its fiascos.
Singapore is becoming a dysfunctional society and we must not regard blind faith as patriotism, for to do so would be sanctioning corruption and abuse of our people.
